Battle Of The Idiotboxers

Drama, Comedy, Horror, Adventure, Sci-fi and Action! After choosing their respective genres and pitching their idea, the AV seniors at SIMC sure did strut their stuff at SIMCatalyst AV on Saturday, the 8th day of September 2012.
SIMCatalyst is a unique opportunity for amateurs to ideate and present their concepts to industry stalwarts and was also open to those who were keen to gain a better understanding of how the industry evaluates student performances.
The afore-stated stalwarts included:

Ø  Mr. Sukesh Motwani, Head, Fiction Programming, Zee TV.

Ø  Mr. Krishna Daswani, Group Head, Zee and an alumnus of SIMC.

Ø  Mr. Yogesh Karikurve, Adjunct Faculty.
 The finalists who took on the stage and battled it out in SIMCatalyst AV were:

Team 1

As mentioned above, each team pitched exceptional ideas which included:
Team 1 – “Savita mujhe pehchano, main kaun hoon”, wherein the protagonist Savita was a con woman-cum-mother.
Team 2 – “Mrs. Tagore ki computer Kendra” – Where Mrs. Tagore is like a mother figure to the students.
Team 3 – “The Grooving Sadhus” – A music show similar to The Dewarists.
Team 4 – "The Game" - backdrop of a high-stake t-20 cricket event where 5 lives come and collide, also highlights the issue of match-fixing.
Post SIMCatalyst, a similar event, SIMClairvoyance commenced. The topic for discussion at this was "Future Trends in Television Programming". The judges of SIMCatalyst were speakers at SIMClairvoyance.

While Mr. Krishna Daswani spoke about genres in television through visual aid, Mr. Sukesh Motwani, an expert in content delivery and storytelling imparted his views on expanding markets and media platforms, and about how the current programming scenario was becoming all the more fluid with new trends emerging and formats evolving each minute.

Towards the end of the event, the judges awarded the first prize to Team 1 and Team 4.
